Importance of Ex-dividend date
Hey all; just here today to discuss an important fact when it comes to stocks.
The Ex-Dividend date is the date of a stock that you must own it before in order to be eligible for the Dividend. There are several databases online which give you the information of the stocks you may be looking for. If you hold the stock till the Dividend Pay date, you will receive the dividend as shares of stock; if you are enrolled in a D.R.I.P (Dividend Re-Investment Program; or as cash if not.
This came up today in discussion, and I've heard of people missing out on important dividends just by overlooking the simple Ex-Dividend and the Pay dates for stocks.
Be careful; do your research; and have a great day :P
